The Review of the Roles of Play Therapists in Their Theoretical Backgrounds

Abstract
This study was reviewed the characteristics of the play therapists roles based on their theoretical backgrounds according to ; (a) the degree of their control in the session, (b) the therapeutic processes, (c) the types of their interventions with the child nod with the parents. Control factor in session, therapists roles arc varied from mutual reflector, learner, co-player, to controler, and manager. As the processes are divided into more concretely, therapists roles are more like trainer or controller, and as the processes are more abstract, therapists facilitate the self~cure of the child. With the types of the relations between child and therapist, the role varies from reflector and supporter to manager and controller. With parents, the therapists roles were varied from informer or investigator, to educator, consultant. It can be more effective to intervene with children and their parents in play therapy situations when the therapists acquire these knowledges of various roles for theoretical background of play therapy.
